STATEMENT

Born of gestures quiet or fierce, these artworks embody isolated experiences, moments where the viewer and the maker come together at an object- and the object falls away. George Andrews exploits the inherent qualities of materials to enhance dynamic mark-making. His approach to art is informed by the idea of expressing consciousness in each stroke, fold, or tear, and a questioning of our perception of the world around us.

I am currently designing and encouraging a Recovery Model Art Project at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Inpatient Psychiatry.
